The Empanada Stop is one of the Rochester Public Market's little gems. Plump little dough pockets filled with cheese, eggs and sausage, beef, or veggies are delivered with prompt and courteous service. But the best part of this countertop cuisine is the Stop's signature sauces. To get that great empanada taste even when the restaurant is closed (it's only open during Public Market hours), buy frozen empanadas and cook them up at home.

There's a reason it's called the Empanada Stop. Their speciality is the empanada and they are great. Whether veggie, beef, breakfast or several others, they are tasty and VERY economical. There a number of other Spanish dishes including sausage, beans and rice which are also "must trys". The casual enviroment of the Public Market (open all year long) adds to the fun of this down home setting.

We look forward to eating here every time we visit Rochester. These are really tasty homemade empanadas, the sauces are out of this world, and the people are so friendly. Nothing like dining here, at the counter, surrounded by the bustle of the Public Market. A great way to eat, and such good food! Please open a shop in Syracuse! We have our own Regional Market where we would love to see you!

I was quite disappointed by this place. We had 2 breakfast empanadas and coffee. The empanadas were skimpy in filling, a bit greasy as well as chewy, and really weren't worth the price they charged. The sauces were good, though, I've had better empanadas for $2 from any of the hundreds of 'taco trucks' that work the streets in L.A.

The coffee was absolutely horrid, tasting like perhaps it was left over from the previous day. We actually had to ask for milk, or else settle for the jumbo size container of non-dairy creamer. DO NOT order coffee here!

This may be considered good food for street food, but it's certainly not worth going out of your way for. In fact, if you're at the market, you're probably better off eating at one of the places on the other end than here.
