The public's heard a lot about the important bills that the State Senate is holding hostage - sales-tax extensions, for example.

One that's gone unnoticed, however, is Timothy's Law: the legislation that requires health insurance providers to provide equitable coverage for physical health and mental health services. It's an important law that's benefitted a great number of New Yorkers, which is probably why the Assembly permanently extended it earlier this month, via a unanimous vote.

But it's sitting in committee in the Senate; Senators need to approve the extension before the governor can sign it into law. The governor's put the bill on past extraordinary session agendas, which signals that it's a priority for him.
