This week's calls to action include the following events and activities. (All are free and open to the public, unless otherwise noted.)

Letchworth lectures

Letchworth State Park will present a lecture series, "Learn About Letchworth." It will be held on Tuesday evenings during the months of July and August at the Lower Falls Restaurant in the park at 7 p.m. Information: 493-3600.

Maafa celebration

The Maafa Celebration Committee will present the 11th annual Maafa: Day of Remembrance "And Still We Rise" on Friday, July 3, at the Durand Eastman Park shoreline at 6 p.m. The event will feature the Rev. Marlowe Washington as keynote speaker. Information: 234-1641.

Reduce carbons

The Center for Sustainable Living will discuss how residents can lower their carbon footprint, on Wednesday, July 8, at the Cool Rochester Café, Victor Library, 15 West Main Street, at 3 p.m.

Book group

The Moving Beyond Racism Book Group will meet on Monday, July 6, at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford Plaza, at 7 p.m. to discuss "Praying for Sheetrock" by Melissa Faye Greene.

Peace vigil

The Buddhist Peace Fellowship will hold a peace vigil in front of the Federal Building, 50 State Street, on Monday, July 6, at noon.
