I last saw the Press Tones in 1983 at Friends And Players, the now-defunct rock 'n' roll dive where virtually every Rochester bar band cut its teeth, lost some teeth, rocked, rolled, lived, and died. It was the release party for the band's single "Let's Wake Up and Make Love." I still play that record. The Press Tones were power pop before the style existed, but came off more as a punk outfit. The band played its last show in 1984 and will reunite in the fall again to play The Scorgies Reunion Concert the Bop Shop's Tom Kohn is throwing together. In the meantime why not amble down to Abilene and watch The Press Tones get the kinks out, put some kinks back in, and rock your ass.
