BLUES: Peter Karp (8/6)
By Ryan Whirty on Aug. 6th, 2008
It's hard to peg singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Peter Karp as a straight-up blues guy. Sure, his stuff is steeped in the vast blues tradition, and sure, he's played and toured with the likes of Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Johnson, and George Thorogood. But critics are just as likely to compare Karp to John Prine, Jackson Browne, or Richie Havens, thanks to his witty, poignant lyrics and rootsy, Americana sound. And that's not to mention his first musical effort, the seminal punky-arty band They Came from Houses. Karp, also well known as Runaway Pete, is currently touring behind his Blind Pig release "Shadows and Cracks."
Peter Karp plays Wednesday, August 6, at 10 p.m. at the Dinosaur BBQ, 99 Court St. Free. 325-7090.
