The American Barnstormers Tour takes place Thursday-Sunday, July 2-5, at the Geneseo Airport.
Airplane flight has been around since the early 1900's, but it wasn't until the 1920's that the art of stunt piloting came along. You'll be able to catch a glimpse of s daredevil pilots in action at the American Barnstormers Tour Thursday-Sunday, July 2-5, at the Geneseo Airport (3400 Big Tree Lane).
The term "barnstorming" was coined in the 1920's to describe the stunt men and pilots, who, after performing at fairs and other special events, would typically land their planes at a nearby farm and celebrate with the locals in the barn.
The Geneseo show takes participants back to the Golden Age of aviation, with about 20 vintage planes piloted by men and women in period costumes. Spectators can even hop in the cockpit of a WWII-era plane for a 15-minute tour (an extra $60 per person) or a 30-minute flight lesson (an extra $200 per person).
