Walk into any beer joint on a Saturday night and you're sure to find a rock ‘n' roll cover band. They seem to be the mainstay of many palliative pouring places that might otherwise go out of business if it weren't for those weekend riots. What keeps us coming back is the ability to sing and dance along to familiar tunes. We like the familiar. It's comfortable. J.O.D. gave up on the cover scene and is now making a scene of its own. That the three musicians do their collaborating over the internet, rehearsing in person only before gigs - sometimes at gigs - keeps them fresh. An original band with catchy tunes and Velcro-like hooks, J.O.D. might have you scratching your head, thinking you've heard the songs before, but somehow forgot all the words. It doesn't matter. You'll be singing them the next day. This isn't a put down via conformity. It's a compliment re: accessibility.
