This pairing of modern country mega-stars could be a case of the opening act eclipsing the headliner. True, Aussie Keith Urban has sold tens of millions of albums, racked up 10 country No. 1s, and earned multiple Grammys since his solo debut in 1999. But in 2008, Taylor Swift quite simply exploded into the biggest thing in country - she was the biggest-selling artist in the States last year, and in February her single "Love Story" became the first country song to top the pop Top 40 chart and turned into the music track with the most paid downloads in history. But don't feel down for Urban - over the last decade, he has become one of the most durable, dependable forces in country music. Plus he gets to go home to Nicole Kidman.

You've got to be kidding!!!! Taylor Swift eclipsing Keith Urban......I don't think so!!! There is no comparison. She maybe the "IT" think right now, but Keith Urban has been in the business for a good while and is here to stay!! I saw them in Atlanta in June and she had her fans, but it was Keith Urban that the majority of the crowd was there to see and he was AWESOME! I found Taylor very POPPY and theartrical...not really a true country act!!

Have you personally seen either of these acts yourself? I don't think so. I have seen both and Taylor is good but Keith Urban is one of the best live acts out there. You really shouldn't write a column based on what you think you know or surmise. I challenge you to go and see these two performers and have the decency to come back and write a column based on fact.

If you haven't seen Keith Urban in concert, you are missing something unbelievable. Don't consider him your old-fashioned country crooner - this man can play that guitar! Think of a Lindsay Buckingham-Eric Clapton style song player - I had friends who went to see Keith and Carrie Underwood last year (mostly for Carrie) and they ended up Urban believers and soon forgot about his opening act! He is absolutely amazing!

Dear Mr. Whirty
I am a 51 year old man and seen the Keith Urban/ Taylor Swift show twice and you
are way way off your rocker. Please come back to earth quickly and rethink the
whole thing over. To compare her to keith urban on stage is like me playing golf
against tiger woods - were not even in the same hemisphere . I like her songs
somewhat she is a remarkable writing talent - but when it comes to performing-
she is light years behind keith urban - i have seen him 35 times and have 5 more
to go this year and cant wait. there is not enough superlatives in the english
language to describe him - on and off the stage- he is a gentlemen off the stage
and a dynamic force in his shows. I need to ask you one question have your
ever seen keith urban live and nicole goes home to him jim

LOL - Just, LOL. Sorry but there is no comparison. She is a kid playing to kids and he is a Master entertainer who just blows your mind & soul.

It always amazes me that anyone thinks Taylor Swift is a talented performer. She can not even stay on key. She is a teeny booper who is being crammed down our throats to the point that I don't even turn my radio on anymore.
I agree with all the previous post to put Keith Urban and Taylor Swift in the same sentence is a joke.

Keith Urban is beyond amazing in concert. The guy is such a gifted musician and performer. Taylor Swift can't sing, she's off key most of the time and beyond obnoxious. To say she is better then Keith Uban is ridiculous. I just don't get her popularity at all. It must be all the teeny boppers in the Miley Cyrus category.

Keith is lightyears ahead of Taylor. I have seen Keith 9 times and he is beyond amazing. I think he is the most dynamic, talented performer out there today. He doesn't need the theatrics/tricks of the likes of Madonna, Brittney or Beyonce. He just needs his guitar and his music. Total talent like his is hard to find.
I saw Taylor open for Keith in June. She has some stage presence given her age and a lot of writing talent. I was pleasantly surprised that her singing was very good in concert given her poor singing on awards shows. But she needs time to grow as an artist. She is too theatrical and immature in how she reacted to the audience. If you are my 12 year old daughter, she walks on water, but adults have a harder time swallowing that kind of show. She may be the IT girl now, but can she hold on to it? It is a fickle business. Keith has stood the test of time. The new brand of young female stars have not.
To compare Taylor (a teen starting out in this field) with the incredibly well-oiled machine that IS Keith Urban is comical and irresponsible.
