CLASSICAL: Bach for the Masses (5/8)

By Brenda Tremblay on May 6, 2009

There's plenty of jazz, blues, and rock to go around, but Rochester is a choral town. Thousands of people belong to choirs and sing for fun. A few serious vocalists have resurrected the Bach Choir, and with organist/conductor James . Bobb, they'll present Bach's motet "Komm, Jesu, komm." Flutist Bonita Boyd will play Bach's lovely "Baroque Sonata in B minor" for flute and harpsichord in a varied program that will also link motets by Praetorius, Schein, and Homilius. This will be Bobb's last concert appearance in Rochester as music director for the Bach Festival, and as director of music for the Lutheran Church of the Incarnate Word. After 15 years in Rochester, he's relocating to Columbus, Ohio.
