JAZZ: Willem Breuker Kollektief (11/6)

By Jen Graney on November 5, 2008

It's a safe bet that Holland's Willem Breuker Kollektief is one of the wildest and most creative ensembles in the universe. Don't be fooled by the familiar instruments - piano, bass, drums, and a large horn section - the sounds are otherworldly. The Kollektief's musicians are among Europe's best, and their music is unfailingly inviting, often downright catchy. That's not all; the great music at the Bop Shop continues Tuesday, November 11, with New York City guitarist Amanda Monaco and her adventurous quartet.

The Willem Breuker Kollektief performs Thursday, November 6, 8 p.m., at the Bop Shop Atrium, 274 N Goodman St. A $20 donation is requested. 271-3354, bobshop.com.
