Creepy husband, DUI arrest, and basic-cable "American Idol" rip-off aside, country star Wynonna has been big-time within the genre for nearly 25 years. She began her recorded career, of course, with mama Naomi in The Judds, a group that sold a gazillion albums. She then struck out on here own, and again sold a gazillion albums. So there's really not much left in mainstream country music for Wynonna to conquer. That could be why she's embarked on her 18-stop "A Classic Christmas," in which she sings new versions of her hits and reinterprets American standards. Each night, she'll be joined by the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and guitarist Don Potter.

Wynonna performs Friday and Saturday, November 14-15, 8 p.m. at the Eastman Theatre, 60 Gibbs St. $36-$90. 232-1900, rpo.org. - BY RYAN WHIRTY
