The Rochester Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps was dealt a tough blow recently, after $100,000 worth of its gear was either stolen or damaged. While House Of Hamez owner James Rowe acknowledges that a benefit essentially amounts to "a drop in the bucket," he and the participating musicians have picked a worthy cause. The Crusaders do compete, but the organization exists primarily as vehicle for building and enriching a sense of community. A scaled-back version of the Crusaders appears at this event - a big selling point here, as drum corps marching bands tend to generate a tremendous sound. Catching one, even in smaller form, in such an intimate, indoor space is worth the price of admission alone. Jerry Falzone, Auld Lang Syne, Mike Allen, and Tim Shea also appear.
