Chris Beard plays Friday, February 8 at Lappy's R&B Lounge.
The blues may be in his bloodline, but Chris Beard's guitar style is a lot different from papa Joe's. The younger Beard opts for a more singing, stinging string attack that frequently leaves his guitar virtually string-less. The man likes to bust clouds vocally as well, pushing beyond all physical and emotional limits. He isn't singing so much as he's crying out loud. Beard plays and sings as if his head were on fire and his ass was next to catch. A stroke slowed him down a few years back, but he's bounced back burning as red hot and blue as ever. And man, does the dude know how to dress, or what? Class, baby, class.
