When the Souls Rise celebrates the mysterious and haunting nature of Halloween without the ghoulishness often associated with the holiday. This original production provides a fantastic occasion for children and adults alike to enjoy the unearthly and mysterious spirit of Halloween. When the Souls Rise celebrates the Halloween holiday from the souls perspective. Through dance, music, and drama, the stories of the souls are revealed and celebrated in a lively and enchanting tale. Other Works in this program include three pieces from the Present Tense and Drumcliffe Irish Arts repertory. Wilcoxs latest work, Western River Expedition, with original musical score by Ward Hartenstein, will open the second part of the program, followed by Edward J. Murphys beautiful new work dedicated to his mother who passed away earlier this year. The concert will conclude with Murphys hilarious and romping piece, Halloween, which reflects Americas passion for the holiday as it has developed from its Celtic roots.

This is a classic Rochester Halloween event, and great fun for all ages! My favorite part is the skeleton dance, which I look forward to every year. This year's production is a wonderful combination of Halloween fun and new works by Anne Harris Wilcox and Eddie Murphy. NOT TO BE MISSED! Boooo there!

This is a show you must see! When the Souls Rise is a fantastic dance performance and is fun to watch. You will love also the great original music created by Ward Hartenstein which combines a live performance a backing track which is both spooky and fun at the same time. The creativity is amazing and then added bonus Drum Cliff and Eddie Murphy! Oh My! You must go to the show!

I've seen When the Souls Rise with my children and nephews and nieces, and the look of awe and excitement on their faces tells you instantly that this is winner. The skeleton dance mesmerizes and enchants, and combines with the music and narrative to great effect. The other dance pieces are innovative and always fun. And to have Durmcliffe there as well, what a night!
Present Tense Dance continues to show that it is one of the most talented dance companies in Upstate New York. Just wish we had them over in the UK!
