I loved the "primary" format this year! Great job!

I can assure you, Brother Wease's comeback is NOT an 'urban legend', but fact. Tune in on November 17 and hear for yourself - www.fox951.com.

I love the way you're doing the new survey...perhaps you could include a category for best piercing shop next year??
Travis said on Oct. 01, 2008 at 3:57pm
I like the primary format as well. I only wish there were a category for best steaks, maybe it isn't needed since Uncle Ralph is so unanimous?

I really cannot believe the finalists for best chicken wings!!! All of them serve these tiny wings with bland meat flavor compared to Dinosaur's smoked wings, which are equal to three of the finalists' wings and have that awesome fall-off-the-bone meat!!! Does anyone in Rochester have taste buds attached to their tongues anymore?

No write in's?
Eric said on Oct. 03, 2008 at 1:44pm
Dear Rich: No, there are no write-ins in the final ballot. The primary ballot, which ran on the website throughout September, was exclusively write-in, and from those results we culled the top four vote-getters in each category for this final ballot. It's a new system we're trying this year, which people seem to like, but I apologize for any confusion.

I just filled out your 100-something survey JUST so that I could vote for WEASE. WCMF made a big boo-boo. Thank you 95.1 THE FOX (and by the way........why weren't they listed as a favorite???) for bringing back The Wease!!!!!!! I love you!!!!
And just so people know.........men aren't the only ones who listened to THE WEASE!!I am the same age as WEASE and have (had) been listening since the beginning! Even though I never called in, he has always been my favorite. Thanks again 95.1!!!!!

I never knew thread was a secondhand store. Good job City!
Jen said on Oct. 09, 2008 at 5:32pm
Hey M -- Thanks for bringing that to our attention. Thread actually doesn't carry secondhand clothing. It was included in the category because it generated enough votes on the primary ballot to be included on our final ballot. It has since been removed from that category (but still remains a finalist in the best clothing store category). Thanks again!

I wish I'd have known about the write-in Primary! i would have voted for ReHouse Architectural Salvage for best retail store and best second-hand store. Way better than Houseparts. I will be sure not to miss the Primary next year.

I wish I had realized there was a prinary for this. I am a little dissapointed that some of the options I would have thought of did not make it on here. I want to try that again next year.

Where was DJ Toochill in the Best Local DJ category?
Salvatore Fantauzzo said on Oct. 15, 2008 at 10:34pm
Salvatore's in the top 200 pizzarias in the country and not on your list ? Yes #158 in the country, 80,000 pizzerias interviewed and supplier statements based on volume of sales .We do not advertise in your paper is that why.? Salvatore's the family born and raised in Rochester New York and not on the list...ss
Eric said on Oct. 15, 2008 at 10:59pm
Dear Mr. Fantauzzo: Thank you for your comment. To answer your question, as the introduction above explains, the final four for each category were not selected by City Newspaper. They were the top four vote getters in the primary ballot that ran online throughout the month of September, which was taken by hundreds of Rochesterians. I can assure you that it has absolutely nothing to do with advertising, just with who the readers picked.
