We're down to the Final 5! This season has been FLYING by. It's the annual go-see competition, and the girls took to the streets - and canals - of Amsterdam to impress a series of designers. Samantha looked amazing but was dinged for being too commercial. Elina turned off several designers with her multiple tattoos and sweaty back. McKey rocked it out and impressed all of the clients she saw. But Analeigh won the challenge (and $18,000 worth of the designers' items) since McKey came back five minutes late and was disqualified. BOOOO! I still don't see the Analeigh thing. Again: pretty girl. Not a model.
And then there was Marjorie, who so fully and completely spazzed out she came dangerously close to repeating Cycle 9 Heather's disastrous go-see experience. Marjorie got lost. So Marjorie got flustered. While in a panic, she kept trying to nag the Dutch for directions, but since she came off like a drug addict, she got no love at all. When she finally made it to a measly two appointments, she was in such a state that the designers were basically shoving her out the door, they were so uncomfortable. Yikes.
I'd like to take the opportunity to make a plea to the mothers of America. Marjorie is home-schooled. Please take in her behavior this episode, and for most of the season, and reconsider whether you want your kid to turn out like her. Because I have known several home-schooled kids in my life, and they all have similar problems (Marjorie is obviously an extreme case). They cannot function in social settings. They are absolutely incapable of interacting on the same level with their peers. They tend to be nervous, withdrawn, and off-putting. This is obviously a blanket statement, and I'm sure there are tons of well-adjusted home-schooled kids out there. But seriously, every single one I know has had a hard time transitioning into adult life. It's true that high school sucks. It's basically consigning your kid to four years of emotional torture. But as someone who lived through it, I'm glad I had the opportunity to go through the humiliation, the rejection, the ostracism as a teenager, rather than dealing with it as an adult. As Marjorie is clearly having to do now, without any of the coping skills you pick up during high school. She is so uncomfortable to watch, and I can't help but think much of that is because of her lack of socialization. I think she's twitchy anyway, but GOD.
Marj really should have gotten the boot last night, but instead it was Elina's time to go. It was a long time coming. She's a stunning woman and I could absolutely see her modeling. But I think the nail in her coffin came when the panel pointed out that she's only 18, and everyone gasped thinking she was in her mid- to late 20s. Talk about repressed, right? Plus, this was her third time in the Bottom 2. You just don't walk away from that.
God willing Marj will go home next week, leaving us an F3 of Sam, Analeigh, and McKey. And if that's the case, McKey better win this bitch, or I will be seriously irked.
